Get to know the real me.
Hi! Thanks for being here. This blog is all about getting to know me a bit more, if you’re intrested that is haha!
I’m Sophie, I turned 30 in April this year and I feel like a real ‘grown up’ now being in my 30’s! I’ve always lived in Norwich and I honestly love it here! I love being able to be in the city within 10 minutes and also be at the beach within 30/40 mins or so, and all the quirky little cafes and bars are totally up my street, I feel like we’ve got the best of both worlds here.
I grew up with my Mum, Dad and 2 older sisters. My parents separated when I was 2 years old so I never really knew them together. My mum met my Step Dad when I was around 6/7 and are still together now, same for my Dad and Step Mum. I’ve always been really close to my family and I’m very lucky that my parents, and step-parents all get on very well and we will all be together for birthdays or special occasions - even all going to Las Vegas together in 2014 for my sisters Wedding!
I grew up with some great friends, and in high school, most of them were boys. I think I connected more with the boys because they just didn’t give a shit about much haha. They were easy to be around, no bitching and we just had such a good time together. Unfortunately a while after we left school, I didn’t really stay in contact with them, my fault to be honest because I had a physco ex who didn’t like it, and I stupidly put up with it. The Sophie now would have told him to jog on!
My first ever job was in retail on weekends, when I was 15. I then left school and studied Health Studies BTEC National Diploma at College as I knew I always wanted to do some sort of care work. I visioned going to Uni but as it came closer and closer, I got cold feet and backed out so I started at my local hospital as a Health Care Assistant. I bloody loved it! I worked with the best team and made friends for life! I met my children’s’ Dad in 2015 and had our first son in March 2019. Due to having a very traumatic birth, I found it so difficult going back to that hospital to work once my maternity leave ended. So much had changed too and it just didn't feel the same. Covid came around and I had to stop working at the hospital due to being classed as ‘vulnerable’ from my birth with Elliott. In the mean time, I had qualified as a Beauty Therapist and worked from home and even though I love all things beauty, my heart wasn’t fully in it. I then had my 2nd little boy in 2022 and experienced the best birth which I never thought was possible and that’s where I think my love for all things babies and births grew.
I always did and still absolutely love a night out, can’t quite deal with the hangovers and lack of sleep anymore however I can’t seem to turn down a bottomless brunch or a few parma violet gins. Cheese (esp halloumi) is life and FRIENDS is the best. Fave childhood film (and still is) Pocahontas! Hoping to get my boys into it soon but it’s not looking promising. I had 3 fears - spiders, heights and the scream mask. I was a veggie for 19 years but started eating meat last year, (KFC is now my best mate on JustEat) I was lucky enough to go on lots of holidays as a child, I think the best holiday was Florida! My happy place would be sitting at the beach, watching the boys play in the sand, a coffee in one hand and a bag of sugared donuts in the other.
I was always on the search for a career that would challenge me but I would have a huge passion for, and I have definitely found that in Hypnobirthing. I feel very content and happy in my life right now and for that, I’m extremely grateful. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading a little bit about my life and I wonder if we’ve got anything in common?
Love, Sophie xx
